Click Here for the current projected path NOAA has issued a Hurricane Watch for the tip of Baja California already battered by 2 other hurricanes this year. Mexico was struck by two Pacific hurricanes last month. Hurricane John battered Baja California, killing five people and destroying 160 homes, while Hurricane Lane hit the resort town of Mazatlan, causing relatively minor damage. It is unknown what result in swell size this will have for San Diego county. SurfSD.com will keep you posted as more information becomes available. Check back frequently! UPDATE at 10-23-2006 1:38 pm: So far not much new information but the southern tip of Baja should receive it's biggest swell Thursday through Saturday as the hurricane reaches landfall. Current NOAA swell animated graphic is here UPDATE at 10-24-2006 8:00 am: Decreased to a category 1 with sustained wind speeds of about 65 mph. The hurricane is expected to continue to degrade over the next 24 hours. Waves still in the 8-12 ft range on Friday. |
